3OT: Toasts, Work Time, & Complaint Checklist
"If you love only those who love you, what credit is that to you?...
Hey friends,
Happy Thursday!
Quote of the week:
"If you love only those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.” Luke 6:32
3 Things:
Fun life hack: Use ChatGPT to come up with silly toasts or songs for you friends. A buddy of mine did this a few weeks ago. Our group was hanging out at his place, and beforehand he fed ChatGPT some info about all of us and then told it to write a rhyming toast about each person. It was hilarious and awesome and took <2 minutes for him to do.
I recently tried it out for myself to come up with a toast for my girlfriend. Simple + fun + helps you not take yourself too seriously. Would recommend.
What time of day works best for you? What time is the worst?
One of the biggest unlocks I’ve made over the past few months is optimizing my schedule to fit my body’s “clock”.
For example, mentally from 12-3pm I am like a car that just broke down. My mental clarity is terrible, my self confidence is at its lowest, and I’m just not sharp. So I started going to the gym from ~12:30-2p and that prevents me from screwing anything up during that time.
My most productive hours are from 7:30-11am and 7pm-10pm. So now I keep those open for deep work and am way more productive.
I understand not everyone has the flexibility, but if you do, it’s worth experimenting to figure out what works best for you. Especially when you compound it over all the years you have left.
How often do you complain? I recently came up with this list of common “losses” or “failures” I might run into in life, to check myself on how often I complain about them. I also added the positive reframe for each situation.

Tweet I Enjoyed:

Music I’ve been enjoying:
For happy/good vibes: Post Malone’s New Country Album
For very sad vibes: Shard by Michael Brook (I’ll listen to this on loop in the bg while I’m working and it’s a vibe - also yes I’m ok guys :)
Cheers,
Ben
P.S. Try going for a walk in a new direction. Did this today and it feels like I unlocked a new part of the map - even though I’ve lived in this place for decades.
