3 on Thursday: Steroids, China, & Compliments

“Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world” ― Miyamoto Musashi

Hey friends,

Happy Thursday!

Quote of the week:

“Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world” ― Miyamoto Musashi

3 Things:

  1. This week I learned about the Enhanced Games, basically the Olympics but all steroids are legal. They're planning the first one for 2025.

I'm interested in it for many reasons, but it's also curious to watch the rise of steroids in popular culture. Bodybuilding and Jiu Jitsu are two sports where the top athletes all use PEDs, and are looked upon very favorably. I wonder if the EG will continue to shift young people in that direction?

  2. Interesting fact: Today, 17% of the world’s population is Chinese, but it used to be much higher: back in 1800, more than 1 in 3 people were Chinese. (h/t Our World In Data)

  3. Complimenting people is an extremely underrated habit. How often do you think something nice about a friend, or tell a third party what you like about another friend, without saying it directly to that friend? If someone looks really good in the outfit they're wearing, tell them.

The more you do it, the more it becomes a habit, and the more people will like you. Plus, telling someone when they do something you like makes it more likely they'll do it again.

What I’m Up To:

Currently editing a YouTube video and taking some time off for the 4th of July (one of my top 2 favorite holidays).

P.S. I need some new book recommendations. Reply to this email with anything good you’ve read recently :)
