3 on Thursday: Confidence, Obesity, & A Lack of Fun
“At the end of the day you gotta feel some way. Why not feel like the best to ever do it?” - Conor McGregor
Hey friends,
If you’re getting this it’s because you signed up for my mailing list, or downloaded one of my PDFs, or because I’m secretly targeting you and your family. Just kidding :)
Quote of the week:
“I can't be sure I'm getting anywhere when I'm working hard, but I can be sure I'm getting nowhere when I'm not, and it feels awful.”
- Paul Graham
3 Things:
Confidence is a habit. When starting something new (a business, a relationship, writing a book) you can choose to believe it will go well, or believe it will fail. Don’t be unconfident due to passivity.
That’s not to ignore the importance of competence in building confidence. But in my experience, you’ll try a lot more things if you believe the things you try will work out. And if you try a lot more things, you’ll have a lot more success.
Conor McGregor said it best: “At the end of the day you gotta feel some way. Why not feel like the best to ever do it?”
Many people think America is the most obese country in the world. That’s incorrect.
The top 5 most obese countries in the world (in order) are: American Samoa (at 70%), Nauru, Tokelau, Cook Islands, Niue (63%). They’re all pacific islander countries, and it seems to be due to a mix of culture + the introduction of unhealthy western food + scarcity of healthy food. Interesting reddit discussion here.
Most people want to be having more fun than they are. Be the one to crack a joke, invite them to something, or start a conversation.
What I’m up to:
I have a YouTube channel where I try successful people’s daily routines and break down the best things I learned from them. This past week I’ve been trying MMA Fighter Conor McGregor’s routine, and that video is coming soon! It’s a banger. Click here if you want to turn on notifications for it.
Cheers,
Ben
P.S. Enjoy a sunset this week. I’m writing this on a rooftop looking at a beautiful one right now. They’re underrated.
